Update 3/16/2015

I wasn't planning to update this anymore, but then I realized I would probably need a list of lakorns just to make changes. The shows seems to be disappearing by the year, so here's the tally so far.

Already Gone
Ab Ruk Online
Cubic
Dao Kiang Duen -The Sun Beside The Moon
Dao Kiao Duen/The Star Courts the Moon
Lom Son Ruk
Rising Sun series - Roy Ruk Hak Liam Tawan
Roy Marn`
Sanaeha Sunya Kaen
Suea (ONE HD)
Suer

Other Channel 3 series likely to be removed
3 Musketeers Series - Maya Tawan, Mon Tra, Fah Krajang Dao
Kaen Sanaeha
Kon Ruk Strawberry
Kuan Kaan Tong Gub Gang Por Pla Lai
Look Tard
Majurat See Nam Pueng
Phan Rai Phai Ruk
Plerng Chimplee ~ Flame of Chimplee
Porn Phrom Olaweng
Roy Fun Tawan Deud
Samee
Suparburoot Jutathep Series -  Khun Chai Taratorn, Khun Chai Pawornruj
Khun Chai Puttipat, Khun Chai Rachanon, Khun Chai Ronapee
Ton Ruk Rim Rua
Wieng Roy Dao
Yah Leum Chun

I haven't dared put all the Channel  3 lakorns here, it's likely to be at least half if not more of all the ones on viki. Ugh...

Please note it will take a while to remove links and reupload dramas already on the site that are down.

..

And future Channel 3 releases? Neung Nai Suang, Tang Parn Kammathep, Sapai Jao, Ka Badin, Kol Kimono, Tarm Ruk Keun Jai

So far, they seem to be taking down ones that are airing now, or just aired, but they'll probably get to taking down the older Channel 3 videos, which are MANY in number.

I feel so sorry for all the people who worked hard on these lakorns. But on the bright side, hopefully this means we'll get official channels.

Update 3/03/2015 GMM, OneHD dramas seem to be the ones at risk.

Another updated as promised. This is more speculation then fact right now. We have to wait and see what happens next.

Suea gone?

So I just got news that Suea the channel seems to be gone.  Suea is from OneHD. This, coupled with Kudalakorn's recent loss of Hormones, ThirTEEN Terrors videos seem to indicate that GMM, OneHD are the ones that will be taken down.

Currently airing shows that may be affected: Ngao Jai. Fun Fueng was recently completed.

Let's hope we get licenses for these future lakorns, all which come from OneHD: Leh Ratree, Roy Leh Sanae Rai, Jad Ruk, Boys Over Flowers, Ban Lang Mek, A Love to Kill among others.

For now, that's what we're thinking.

Dear readers, I've gotten notice from a number of people that viki is planning to take down some fan channels because of content providers within the next week.

Here's the email from viki.

Hello!

As a volunteer on one of our fan channels, we wanted to inform you that we’ll be taking down select fan channels within the next week at the request of content providers. We know this may be disappointing news, but please know that we’re continuously working hard to build relationships with content providers to license more new, exciting content for you to enjoy in the future.

All contributions you’ve made on these channels, including both segments and subtitles, will still be counted on your user profile.

Please do not reply to this message. If you have any concerns, please send them to the Help Center (help@viki.com).

Thank you for your understanding.

Best,

The Viki Community Team

We don't know what channels they are, or even if they are lakorn channels. But since the people who contacted me worked mainly on Thailand drama channels, it's reasonable to suppose that the channels will be lakorn channels.

What does it mean?

Well, hopefully it means viki will be licensing some lakorns now, so hurrah! Unfortunately, that also means starting from scratch in some cases.

But we just wanted to let you know in advance.
We'll keep you updated.

  5. damn leh ratree and roy leh are both starting soon and both had subbers who agreed to sub them that's a huge bummer if those disappear and ngao jai only has a few episodes to go =//// .... really hope this means they will license them but Im still doubting that

    1. Even in China, 4/1, there is a possible that the subtitle groups will be disappearing if they don't get official authorization... I been downloading lakorns at youku with Chinese subtitles as well when English might not be available

  6. So sad looks like they will probably be taking most lakorns down just like how they all get taken off of YouTube. It's sad because where else can you find groups of people who will get together to help sub shows, I'm guessing less and less lakorns will start getting subbed =\\\

  8. Oh no! This is not good news! I was looking forward to the Mafia series and Lom Son Rak, and Ab Ruk Online. I love Channel 3 series. It doesn't make much sense to me to take down series or shows when they generate a fan base and spread popularity. Where else can fans follow their work if it's not being subbed and shared? Their fan base then would only be limited to people who speak the language. I'm hoping for the same thing Jasmine, in that we get official channels. Lets hope it happens soon!!!

  12. Wow this is sad news...this is why my team and I created the RES Campaign at www.requestenglishsubtitles.com. We wanted to develop a clandestine site so that way big production companies wont bother us fans as far as licensing is concern. Anyway, I encourage everyone affected by this take-down to participate in this campaign so that we can build this site the way you want it and help speed up the process. Thanks Jasmine for updating this post about viki.com and for sharing about RES Campaign on your blog!

  13. I have to comment on the shortsightedness of the production companies in removing their Thai dramas. I became an Asian drama fan over 15 years ago. It started with Korean dramas. I just found and began watching Thai dramas about one year ago. These dramas have caused me to use my spending dollars by purchasing Asian dramas and music. If it were not for the fans who began uploading these dramas for online viewing, these are purchases I would never have made. I love to travel also, so, in the future, I will be visiting an Asian country. I have not decided which one yet. I have Chinese, Korean, and Thai music on my iphone purchased from iTunes.....most recent purchases include Bie Sukrit and Boydpod.
